Names.  We think long and hard about what to name our children.  Usually we go for what we think sounds good or one that has a meaning we think is nice.  Some people just pick out something completely different. I notice in Malawi many names are in their native language of Chichewa and some are very common.  For example there is Chimwemwe.  Mtendere Village has at least 10 kids named Chimwemwe

Happy Independence Day on July 6!  Well, that's the day Malawi celebrates its independence from the same country as the USA.  So how did we celebrate?  With a youth rally at Mtendere Village. On Jan 31 our kids, ages Wee Praise through 6th grade, journeyed through different centers that captured our theme "touching the untouchables."  They spent time going to "jail," down to the inner city, and countries like Mexico, and Turkey.  The kids had hands-on activities where they made t-shirts for inner city kids and made picture frames for hospice patients.  Wee Praise kids went on prayer

One of our core purposes in the Missions Ministry is to teach and equip our kids with a missional heart for the whole world.  I love it when my four year old says the prayer at dinner or bed time and lists people from about 5 different countries!  Many thanks to all the Kid's Kingdom volunteers who help shape our kids and are already laying a foundation of thinking about reaching the nations.

So many amazing things have happened in the last five years.  Its hard to believe that 5 years ago almost everything our missions ministry has now didn’t exist.  In 2004 the Elders at Landmark gave their blessing to form the MVT.  When we began Mission Sunday in 2005, the previous year’s budget for missions was a mere $25,000.  Today the Landmark family gives more than $200,000 a year to missions
